The Praise Window, 1
Window of a single lancet light.
This window depicts an angel in motion playing the cymbals. There is a banner that flows down the window with an inscription.
Inscription:
“Praise ye him all his angels. Praise ye him all his hosts.” Psalm 148:2
Dedication:
“Remembrance of John Guthrie.
___ ____ __ _____ ____.”
The windows were donated by John and William Guthrie (J & W Guthrie Studio) in memory of their parents.
Artist:
Norman Macdougall- (1851-1937) was born in Glasgow and attended Glasgow School of Art before moving to London where he became an appointed glass painted and then lead designer for Daniel Cottier where he remained until 1887. Macdougall then returned to Glasgow to work as a designer for the J & W Guthrie Studio. Macdougall became the first appointed teacher in the newly formed Glass Staining department at the Glasgow School of Art.
