The Community Window

1st Corinthians 13- “The Nature of Love”

This window is an abstract study and expansion on the theme “The Nature of Love”. The text swirling through the window further investigates the theme of love, in English, Greek, Gaelic and Augm (a precursor to Gaelic in Ireland and Scotland). Love is also explored through the ‘Language of Flowers’ some of which express symbols of love. The funding for the window was raised by members of the congregation, the community and the Partnership Fund of Glasgow 1999 (UK City of Architecture and Design).

This window was installed in 2002.

“There are three thing that last forever, faith, hope and love and the greatest of the three is love.” (1 Corinthians 13)

Artist:
Designed by Rab MacInnes (__- ) and made by Linda Cannon (1961- ). Both are graduates of Glasgow School of Art. Their partnership began in 1997 and they continue to conserve, restore and make new works in Scotland and the UK. Cannon-MacInnes is based in Glasgow.
