Window of one trefoil headed lancet light.
This window depicts the figure of Saint Paul holding a scroll with Latin written on it in his left hand, and a sword in his right.
Inscription:
‘Saint Paul’
‘…Gladium quod est verbum Dei…’
Dedication:
‘And of Jess Young Turnbull his wife. These windows are given by bequest of their daughter Ella Oliver Wylie. Ob 29th Dec. 1935.’
Artist/Designer:
William (Willie) Wilson (1905-1972): Wilson was born in Edinburgh. Wilson apprenticed with James Ballantine II, while attending classes at Edinburgh College of Art. He started his own studio in 1937. The studio was incredibly productive, producing a mass amount of glass for Scotland and England. Wilson slowly became blind through diabetes, yet the studio continued to produce. Wilson was a member of the Royal Scottish Academy and he was awarded an OBE.
