Robert Burns Memorial Window
Window of five lights arranged in two stages with tracery.
This window is abstract in nature, but focuses on the themes which Robert Burns celebrates the most in his poetry.
Tracery:
The tracery depicts a sunburst of love, blooming like a rose, referencing one of Burn’s most know quotes “O my Luve’s like a red, red rose.”
Upper stage:
The upper stage depicts the human community and the brotherhood of man.
Lower stage:
The lower stage depicts elements from the natural world.
Dedication: Robert Burns Memorial Window
This window was installed in 1985.
Artist/Designer:
Lefur Breidfjord- (1945) was born in Reykajvik, Iceland and has worked in Stained Glass since 1968. Breidfjord studied at Edinburgh College of Art from 1966-1968 where he studied under Sax Shaw. He has created an extensive body of work and continues to produce designs.
Firm/Company:
Messrs W. Derix of Rottweil- Derix Studio was founded in 1866 in Goch/Niederrhein, Germany. Their reach and work has expanded into the international scene producing high end, large scale works with incredible artistry and knowledge of the materials for many internationally know stained glass artists such as Leifur Breidfjörd, Patrick Reyntiens and Brian Clarke.
