The Younger lancet Windows

Two windows of lancet lights.

These windows were commissioned in order to celebrate the Golden Jubilee (50th anniversary) of the Memorial chapel in 1979. These windows are abstract however, further developed the reoccurring theme of the number 12 through symbolic significance as depicted in other windows in the Chapel.

Artist:
Alan Younger (1933-2004) was born in Southeast London. He studied Fine Art at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London and then apprenticed in Carl Edwards’s studio in London. He then became assistant to Lawrence Lee at the Royal College of Art. He started his own studio in 1966 and completed many successful commissions at Durham Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and many places of note. He was a Fellow and council member of the British Society of Master Glass Painters; a Brother of the Art Workers' Guild; and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers.
