The Decent from the Cross.

Window of one round headed lancet light.

This window depicts Jesus’ descent from the cross. Joseph of Arimathea (the bearded man) was given permission to remove Jesus’ body from the cross, helps to lower the body from the cross, along with John, to Jesus’ mother, Mary and Mary Magdalene who is seen near Jesus’ feet.

In the upper panel, there is a lamb representing Jesus with a cruciform halo and carrying the banner of Resurrection. The lamb is surrounded by three putti.

Inscription Panel:
The script states “Ecce Agnus Dei qui toll it peccata mundi!” (translation: Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world).

Dedication:
On the lower panel, a large scroll is flanked by two putti. The script states, “Of your charity, pray for the repose of the soul of Fr. John Treanor S.J., formerly Misstoner of this Church and D.M.S Champlain and died 29 Jan 1936. Erected by the Sodalities and friends as a tribute of grateful affection R.I.P”.
