The Benedicite Window

The Benedicite is a song of creation/song of thanksgiving. This window does not literally interpret this canticle, however the window leads the viewer to the common theme of the University’s Chapel, which is knowledge, knowledge which comes from God, and knowledge which should lead man back to God.
These windows were designed and installed in 1962. This window is east facing.

Artist:
Lawrence Lee A.R.C.A. (1909-2011) was born in London and attended the Royal College of Art, graduating in 1930, where he studied Stained Glass under Martin Travers. After WWII, Lee designed and made an extensive array of Stained Glass to replace many which had been destroyed in the War. One of the most notable commissions was the design of the windows for Coventry Cathedral.
