St. Ninian

Window of one trefoil headed lancet light.

This window depicts the figure of Saint Ninian holding a church in his left arm, and a shepherd’s staff in his right. The sea can be seen in the background.

Artist/Designer:
William (Willie) Wilson (1905-1972): Wilson was born in Edinburgh. Wilson apprenticed with James Ballantine II, while attending classes at Edinburgh College of Art. He started his own studio in 1937. The studio was incredibly productive, producing a mass amount of glass for Scotland and England. Wilson slowly became blind through diabetes, yet the studio continued to produce. Wilson was a member of the Royal Scottish Academy and he was awarded an OBE.
